Advocacy is about mobilizing your allies, the public, and those in authority to take actions that will protect consumers and build wealth within underserved populations. This can be accomplished through a variety of persuasive actions and communications - e.g. public education, lobbying, and legal assistance. Although advocacy is not limited to the methods discussed in this section, all effective advocacy requires a strong communications strategy, knowledge of your community, and strong relationships with community leaders and other advocates in your state.
Because advocacy often provides partial results and is an ongoing process, it is essential to keep all partners unified and persistent in implementing these methods.
