Frequently Asked Questions
Q. How does ACTS work?
The purpose of ACTS is to provide relevant information on issues related to the formation, administration, advocacy, and programs of asset building coalitions. ACTS provides documents and links to other websites which have such information available. By serving as a central location, ACTS is able to effectively harness the collective whole of the asset building movement for the benefit of all.
Q. Will ACTS undermine my coalition’s website?
No. ACTS is meant to direct more viewers to your coalition's website by drawing attention to your coalition's work in your state. ACTS also serves as a resource for you to use your website more effectively in fulfilling and expanding your mission and the overall operation of your coalition.
Q. What types of documents and links should I submit?
Submissions to ACTS may include any documents and links containing templates, examples, or other resources related to asset coalition administration, advocacy, and programs. By submitting materials to ACTS, you can share your knowledge with the asset building community as well as publish your coalition’s achievements. You can submit materials by completing a one-page form on the website. (Please note that the managers of the ACTS website have the final authority to determine the materials that will be posted on the ACTS website.)
Q. I am worried about submitting documents with sensitive information (e.g. in the form of organizational budgets and grant proposals).
All materials on the ACTS website are publically available. When submitting materials to the ACTS website, be sure to remove any proprietary or confidential information that you do not wish to become publically available. (Please not that the ACTS website managers shall not be liable for any damages whatsoever for disclosure of any confidential information submitted for posting on the ACTS website.)
Q. Will my coalition be acknowledged for submissions?
Yes. On all submissions, the name of the organization will be displayed.
Q. What are examples of the types of information that can be submitted?
Submissions to the ACTS website can include documents and links related to the formation, administration, advocacy, and programs of asset coalitions. Examples include, but are not limited to, sample press releases, work plans, marketing materials, and meeting agendas.
Q. Can I make submissions to be used in the news section?
Absolutely. News submissions are an important means of getting coalitions actively involved in the site and with each other. Please take advantage of it to share press releases and significant events and milestones for your coalition.
Q. What if I can’t find the information I need? How can requests be made?
If you are unable to find the information that you are looking for on the ACTS website, it may be that the information has not been submitted or uploaded. The ACTS website is a collective effort of asset coalitions nationwide, and new information will be added as documents are submitted. Please feel free to submit questions to the managers of the ACTS website at contact@assetcoalitiontoolkit.org. A member of the ACTS team will respond to your inquiry as soon as possible.
Q. Who administers the website?
The ACTS website is administered by the Community Investment Unit (CIU) of the Sargent Shriver National Center on Poverty Law. To learn more about the CIU, please visit www.povertylaw.org.
Q. How often will the site be updated?
ACTS is updated on a quarterly basis. However, important news and updates – as well as content submissions- are added on a rolling basis.
Q. Are there requirements for using ACTS?
