Membership
The number and type of groups in your coalition will influence your coalition's success. The public and politicians may judge the strength of your cause by the diversity of your coalition's membership: who is involved and who is missing. Creating a solid membership base requires several actions. First, you must engage in active education to make members and potential members aware of the issues and policies your coalition seeks to address. Second, you must make it clear that the associations and organizations targeted will benefit from being a member of your coalition because they will participate, directly or indirectly, in the process of resolving the issues important to them.
Further, developing and sustaining membership commitment and action are necessary to ensure that the coalition has the resources to take action to fulfill its goals.
