Governance & Corp. Structure

Every organization is governed by rules and practices intentionally or unintentionally set in place. Coalitions are no exception to this. A coalition’s mission defines its external goals. It is an intentional tool used for guidance and motivation when the coalition encounters external resistance—of any kind— to their work. In the same way, a governing and corporate structure is a tool used to guide the internal interactions essential to implementing and strengthening its asset building initiatives. This type of intentionality in coalition formation and maintenance not only leads to less confusion and disagreements among members, but presents a unified and strong image to communities served, funders, and elected officials.
